Preparing for a wedding is one of life's most exciting, and most exhausting, times. The venue, invitations, fittings, family visits… As the big day approaches, shoulders rise and sleep shrinks. In this article we suggest a pre-wedding spa plan so the bride and groom arrive at the big day rested and feeling good.
Why Plan Ahead?
An intense treatment the day before the wedding can bring unexpected surprises: skin sensitised after a kese, mild muscle tenderness after a deep massage… Spreading treatments over weeks prepares both body and skin gradually.
Sample Calendar
6–8 Weeks Before: Getting Started
In this busiest stretch of preparation, start a massage routine to manage stress. Swedish Massage or Aromatherapy Massage is a good start. A session every two to three weeks suits this period.
4 Weeks Before: The First Kese
Cleanse the skin of dead cells with the hammam ritual. Having your first kese at this point lets you see how your skin responds. Massage + Peeling and Foam combines cleansing and relaxation.
2 Weeks Before: Let Go of Tension
A focused session for tension built up in the shoulders and neck. If you like deep pressure, this is the last suitable time for Deep Tissue Massage; switch to gentler treatments after that.
5–7 Days Before: Final Kese and a Gentle Massage
A final kese and foam for smooth, radiant skin. This timing leaves enough time for any sensitivity to settle. Follow it with a soft, flowing massage.
1–2 Days Before: Relaxation Only
Don't have a kese, deep massage or anything new at this point. A light Indian Head Massage or Reflexology to calm the mind can help you fall asleep more easily. If you're having your hair done, you can ask for no oil to be used in the head massage.
Relaxing Together
Taking a break together during the preparations is a good breathing space for couples. Classic Couples Massage or VIP Couples Massage in the VIP Couples Suite reserved for celebrations is ideal. Planning a session after the wedding is also a lovely way to shake off the fatigue; see Celebrating in the VIP Couples Suite.
With Bridesmaids and Groomsmen
A spa day with friends before the wedding is also a calm, enjoyable alternative for a hen or stag celebration. For group planning, see our article on a spa day with friends.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Avoid sunbathing and trying new products in the week of the wedding.
- Don't shave or wax for 24 hours after a kese; plan hair removal accordingly.
- Drink plenty of water and don't neglect sleep.
- Always share pregnancy or health information.
