What to Wear to the Spa and What to Bring

24 September 2026 · 3 min read

One of the questions we hear most before a first spa visit is: "What should I bring?" The answer is actually very simple; the spa experience wants you to arrive as light as possible. In this article we give a practical answer to what to wear to the spa and what to bring.

Arrival Clothes: Comfort Is Everything

Choose comfortable clothes that are easy to put on and take off. After a massage the body is relaxed and warm; tight jeans, firm belts or many layers spoil that feeling. Soft trousers, a comfortable top and easy shoes are ideal. In winter, bring a cardigan so you don't feel cold after your session.

What Do You Wear Inside the Spa?

At O'SPA Sky the textiles you'll need, such as robes, slippers and towels, are provided. Every session is followed by full disinfection, and single-use textiles are used. During a massage only the area being worked on is uncovered; the rest of your body stays draped. Disposable underwear may also be offered; it's entirely up to you to choose whatever you feel comfortable in.

Bring With You

  • Personal care products for afterwards (comb, moisturiser, deodorant)
  • If you wear contact lenses, a lens case and solution; it's more comfortable to remove them for face and head treatments
  • A hair tie for long hair
  • Any regular medication, kept within reach if needed

Leave at Home

  • Jewellery: Necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings get in the way of massage movements and can be damaged by oil.
  • Heavy make-up: Coming without make-up is more comfortable, especially for sessions that include the face and head.
  • Strong perfume: It masks the effect of aromatherapy oils.
  • Your workload: Perhaps most importantly, leave your laptop and to-do list behind.

What About Your Phone?

We recommend silencing your phone and leaving it in your personal locker. The most valuable part of the spa is the freedom of being unreachable for a few hours. If you're expecting something urgent, let reception know.

Valuables

Guests are offered a personal locker. Still, not bringing very valuable items helps you relax with peace of mind.

If You'll Use the Hammam and Sauna

If you'll be using the heat areas, avoid heavy meals beforehand, drink plenty of water during the day and be sure to remove metal jewellery. For practical tips on the sauna and steam room, see our guide; for the hammam ritual, see our step-by-step hammam guide.

One Last Tip

Arriving 15 minutes before your appointment gives enough time to change and have a short consultation. For pre-session preparation, read our article on preparing for a massage.
